RECONSTRUCTIVE PROCEDURES

Workers’ Compensation (Occupational Injuries)

WHO ARE GOOD CANDIDATES
Patients who suffer hand, wrist, or upper extremity injuries as a result of their occupation may be candidates for treatment under Workers’ Compensation. These injuries can include fractures, tendon or nerve injuries, repetitive strain disorders like carpal tunnel syndrome, or crush injuries. Candidates often require evaluation and care that restores both function and the ability to return to work safely.

THE PROCEDURE
Treatment depends on the nature and severity of the injury and may include conservative approaches such as splinting, physical therapy, and injections, or surgical intervention such as fracture fixation, tendon or nerve repair, or joint stabilization. All care is coordinated with the Workers’ Compensation case manager and employer to support the patient’s recovery and safe return to duty.

EXPECTED RESULTS AND RECOVERY
The goal of treatment is to maximize functional recovery and minimize downtime. Most patients see steady improvement with appropriate care, although recovery timelines vary based on the type of injury and job requirements. Ongoing communication with the care team ensures that work restrictions, accommodations, and rehabilitation plans are tailored to the patient’s specific occupational needs.
